Western Toad
Identified by their white or cream colored dorsal stripe and dry looking skin compared to frogs, Orange County is towards the Southern most section of their range. These toads primarily prey upon insects but can also eat other available food sources like crayfish. Unlike how frogs jump or leap, western toads can leap short distances but typically walk. During daylight hours they are below rocks, brush, or in burrows and come out at night to avoid losing moisture.
