This type of owl is not seen by many humans in Orange County for multiple reasons, we typically only see them in winter and even then, there are not many of them but they will usually be in groups of at least a few. At night they have an interesting call that can sound like a dog barking. It is important to keep a distance from the owls as they need rest during the day and if they get scared from their rest, they are vulnerable of being attacked by other birds.
