Much less common than the striped skunk, spotted skunks have more of a spotted white pattern compared to the 2 stripes on a striped skunk. Their behavior is also different from striped skunks, they are more energetic and tend to "bounce around" back and forth rather than walking slowly in a straight line like striped skunks. Spotted skunks are also known to perform handstands when threatened and are capable of aiming their butt forward, bending in over their head so their body is in a "C" shape, this allows them to spray potential threats while facing them. Since spotted skunks are very small, they are very cautious of their surroundings so it's very rare to ever encounter one. Since they are about the same size as a squirrel, they can easily tuck into a bush and not be seen.
