A non-venomous snake that is not commonly seen around Orange County but is here in various areas in the wilderness. These snakes typically are very mellow and will avoid human contact whenever possible but will lay out on rocks or open spaces to warm up. Their diet consists mainly of lizards, rodents, and bird eggs. They can reach up to 55" in length but are usually much smaller.
