Over 100 years ago, the McFadden Brothers built a ranch house to house their family along with farm workers in 1915. The wood used to build the residence was offloaded at McFadden Wharf which is now known as Newport Pier. This structure is located within Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park and is now used as a ranger station for OC Parks who now maintains it. It can be visited by walking or bicycling down the trail adjacent to El Toro just West of Cooks Corner
